The Turquoise is a gemstone that is surrounded by many myths, because it was one of the first ever mined gems. Its mining goes back to ancient Egypt in the year 5500 BC and Persia in the year 5000 BC. Since that it is appreciated by many different cultures. Today it is the National Gemstone of Iran.
The turquoise is often sprinkled with brown limonite or black manganese oxide veins of the matrix (source rock). Attractive, balanced patterns do not affect the value of a turquoise.
Turquoise may be steamed, but not cleaned ultrasonically.
