Clutch, Weekender or laptop bag? Ladies handbags is a subject which men and women mostly have a divided opinion about but that doesn’t alter the fact that a beautiful bag contemplated for itself is a beautiful bag.

Bags are an inexhaustible topic. “Assuming you are a woman“, one or two of you will probably be thinking. There is doubtless a good reason for men often showing so little understanding for this accessory: lack of choice. It is truly astounding how little fondness designers have for men’s bags. And how much for women’s. Don’t be surprised then when this newsletter, whether you like it or not reflects this. Those of our male readers who are however looking for a suitable present idea: reading on could be worth it for you…

Ofantique, Bali

The designer Rita T. Bastos is aiming (similar to Oyuna, which you perhaps know from our travel blankets) at the “global nomad“, who is seeking to combine elegance and uniqueness. That, considering her CV is very understandable. Born in Portugal, she started as a model before completing her filmmaking studies in L.A. She later lived with her family for a long time in Thailand where she first came into contact with the antique silk material from Laos. The silk weaving mill for “domestic use“ here not only has an almost 1,000 year old tradition but in the course of time has also produced a fascinating wealth of materials and patterns. The material is made into bags at Qfantique. In addition, a vegetable-tanned leather with Italian provenance which becomes more beautiful with time is used.
