This silk is a natural fiber extracted from filaments of the aloe vera cactus (from the Agave family). The substance is known for its quality, strength and beauty and is produced unchanged for millennia. The long spiky leaves are crushed, the fibers washed and hammered and then soaked in water. The fibers and filaments are separated, spun into silk thread or woven and dyed in various colors. The fabric has a high elasticity and makes the Sabra silk free of wrinkles.
The Agave fibers can be spun together with other fibers such as camel wool, chenille or cotton.
The long and time consuming process makes this silk very expensive and at the same time unique.
